I don't understand his saying that I might get back to the air. Will you ask him about it? I gathered that I was finally turned down, and have been making all my plans on that basis. Till I hear from you I'll hold up the American book-contract, since I can (if I'm continuing to hope) arrange another £4000 from that source. Otherwise I've got enough, in the further £2350 coming, to frank me over the book-bills, and over the time in which I mop the mess finally up. [omission]
