This is a time lapse movie. Very occasionally the ground/air temperature and humidty conditions along with the time of day create weather conditions which can be quite interesting. Here you can see the rapid formation of mist at ground level and as the sun rises increasing the temperature and altering the humidity, the mist gradually recedes.
The onset of the mist happened so quickly that by the time I had set up the camera I missed the intial stages. So in the beginning you will have to imagine the same sequence as the ending. This 1 minute clip spans a time period of nearly 3.5 hours. The camera used was a Canon PowerShot A640 using CHDK to control the image capture. The images were then processed using Quicktime's "image sequence" facility. Nearly 800 images were used. You will need to download the free Quicktime browser element to view the time lapse.
